I've had very little contact with this band other than the tribute night I'm playing tomorrow night, so the only songs I really know at all are the ones we're playing:

Bone Machine
Bang On (Breeders)
U-Mass
Kory do you live under a bush?
No, I just don't like them very much.
Know this: no one will ever sigh and roll their eyes better than a Gen Xer, and I just brought the full power of that to bear on this.

1. Doolittle
2. Come On Pilgrim
3. Surfer Rosa
4. Bossanova
5. Trompe le Monde

Definitely a narrow difference between 1 and 5. Incredibly solid run.

Ahh OK mate, I thought you were saying you were not that aware of them.

I was extremely anti-Pixies in High School (part of a broader anti-grunge and alternative stance I had then), but I like 'em now.

1. Dolittle
2. Come on Pilgrim
3. Surfer Rosa
4. Trompe le Monde
5. Bossanova

I might rate Last Splash better than any of these records, for what it's worth. And I don't rate any of the recent stuff much at all.

I'd slot Last Splash behind Doolittle and Trompe le Monde in my list, and miles above any Frank Black record.

Last Splash would definitely be no lower than maybe slot 3 in my list. Maybe just behind Doolittle. And yeah, it’s the best album to come from any Pixies diaspora.

Well the show went really badly (drummers), so I'll always associate the band with that now. It's not going to get better.

Yeah, tell me more. I like kicking a drummer when he's down.

When on earth are drummers ever up (short of being on the riser)? I mean … they're drummers.

"Drummers", as in more than one? So this wasn't one unit, it was a multiple player tribute? What happened?

No, I was just saying, like, "psh, drummers."

We had to start Bone Machine three times because he couldn't get the timing right.

Really? It's so easy - just play the beat backwards, baddabam baddabing.
