I’m familiar with the Shadows version of Sleepwalk but don’t believe I had heard the original before, very smart piece of music.

Looking through the historic list of No.1s i find there are very many I’d see as mediocre. But here’s 5 that I liked which haven’t seen mentioned yet.

Mississippi- Pussycat
If - Kojak
19 - Paul Hardcastle
Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury
Get Down - Gilbert OSullivan
I had Mississippi in my top 5. I know it's not a cool song to like but that three part harmony blows me away. The song also brings out hugely nostalgic feelings in me. Love it.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I’m sure Rhythm Stick has been listed, great song though.

Cool or not, I love it too. That’s what I was listening to as a kid, punk was not on my radar for another year or two at that point. Probably the only song I know by a Dutch band, the Eurovision doesn’t count.

Also amazed to learn that neither Dylan nor Springsteen ever had a billboard No.1. Was aware they’d no UK No.1s but assumed they’d have a hatful of US No.1s between them. Dunno if there’s a solid reason for that but seems rather odd to me anyway.

1. Blue Moon - The Marcels
2. House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
3. Space Oddity - David Bowie
4. Walking on the Moon - The Police
5. Dub be good to Me - Beats International

Blue Moon was released on the day I was born in 61' apparently, I like it & I sing it now & again, Chelsea play in Blue too, I saw The Police at the Rainbow Theatre in 79 when it was No 1', The Police play in Blue too, it's all relative.
I had at No. 4. 19 - Paul Hardcastle But changed it after seeing it taken.
I just realised theres a lot of Moons just there.

I was also surprised to see Sir Cliff with a number one in 1999!

Never heard this before and can't believe how amazing it is. Never liked the Band version at all.
