Actually I've been listening to Travis a lot more since we've been discussing them, I've missed 'em.

My friend can't stomach that song either...

Anyone here actually like them?
I'm listening to 'em now; "Closer". Good times had by all!
:D
All along I was thinking Travis was a person not a band. I take this excerpt from wikipedia as justification for hate of a band that I know nothing of:
often credited with having paved the way for bands such as Coldplay, Keane and Snow Patrol
I've never heard of Keane or Snow Patrol but Coldplay is an abomination.
Snow Patrol are a decent band, played this to death on the jukebox when it came out...

I agree. It took me along while to unravel the MC5 deal, but that unreleased doc (A True Testimonial) went a long way to bringing things into focus for me (plus finally getting into High Time).

My random band: The Blue Caps!
Good choice!
And from my hometown! Norfolk represent!
Extra points for being one of the few 50's exponents of colour-coordinated scally caps.

i wasn't aware they were from norfolk. my hometown is chesapeake; gene vincent lived in a house down the street from me.

Do you still live in Chesapeake? We could grab a beer/I could wear your skin as my own.

Right off Tidewater drive where it meets Lafayette. I'm about eight minutes from Ghent and ODU.

oh, ok. i think my dad used to live around there.
the last time a went to norfolk (earlier this summer) it seemed to have changed a lot from my childhood memories. like they're trying to fix up downtown or something.

Norfolk is nice, but the streets aren't paved with Confederate gold like Richmond... :shifty:

i always thought the image of the shipyard was very romantic, in this grimey industrial way.

I was at one of the gigs this was recorded at.
It wasn't recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon which is a common misconception.
