Got this spinning now, and a pint of guiness to try and take the edge off yesterday's birthday shin dig...

Crypta a female Brazilian death metal band. Ive been listening to a lot of noisy stuff i general. This would cause Heston great emotional stress.

Would it be worse than Swans for spoiling Heston's supernoodle appetite? I think it's a coin toss.

If these 2 songs are any indication the new Courettes album is gonna be great.

Decent cover by Keith here. Tribute albums aren't what usually gets my juices flowing but this one for Lou has a really intriguing line up so am looking forward to giving it a spin when i get the chance.

It's not bad, but there's none of the... seductiveness... of the orginal. Maybe that's hard to conjure when you're 9,000 years old.

Absolutely but also...thank fuck he didn't try or I'd have been posting the video for entirely different reasons or, more likely, arranging a therapy session for having witnessed it. Keith just does his own thing with it and it's....fine. I do quite like it, all told.

Hello,

New stuff from Yard Act. Not for everyone, very Beck-ish (good Beck-ish) to my ears.

I've been listening to my local FM classical music radio station, and they've been doing a "John Williams Weekend" for the last couple days. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T., First Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws, Superman, etc. The list goes on.

My parents had the vinyl Star Wars soundtrack when I was a kid. I didn't ask them for it - they were just cool enough to have bought it on their own. So there it was, among their Rolling Stones, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin and Moody Blues records. I remember, pre-Jedi, listening to it on the record player in the basement with the lights off, when I was 8 or 9. Maybe the best bit of music ever composed, including whatever those Clash guys did.

I recommend that you listen to this by candle light, or by the warm glow of your lightsabre:

The Stills, Oceans Will Rise. Last album by a Canadian band that caught that post-punk revival wave in the '00s. The closest analogues, I think, are Echo & the Bunnymen and Radiohead's The Bends. Not a record to change your life, but I'm fine listening to it from start to finish.

Transmission, Beyond Light. Just discovered this. Back in the 00s, Youth and Paul Ferguson got together with a couple other non-KJ dudes. It's all instrumental, sometimes gets a bit too close to jam band, but is generally decent. More groovey—Metal Box seems a departure point—than harsh.

This'll especially appeal to Kory (and maybe only Kory), but it's Cocteau Twins' Victorialand re-imagined as trip-hop. Deserves a genuine release.
