If you're familiar with Jarboe, you have an idea of what you're in for, tho this is a bit more conventional (relatively speaking, of course).

Hello,
Nick Lowe - Tokyo Bay (EP). Nick. Rocks. Again. It's more rocking than his recent crooner stuff. I respect his output but prefer uptempo sound and energy - Eddie Angel on guitar is a bonus. Come on now, Nick, give us a full album of this stuff!

God Alone, Bent Shoulders, somewhere between noise rock and post-hardcore. Feels heavier than it actually is, but pretty good stuff.

Agreed. I've just picked up the two box sets and there is so much terrific music on them.

Agreed with all of this. Such a great band.Marky Dread wrote: ↑19 Sep 2018, 5:35pmAgreed. I've just picked up the two box sets and there is so much terrific music on them.
I’m currently getting my 90s on with the Judgment Night soundtrack, a very important cultural artifact where all the wrong lessons were learned. On the whole this album is a very creative fusion of rap/hip-hop with alternative/hard rock, but instead of branching off into thoughtful future albums based on these collaborations, it seems like most people who listened to this (and for that matter the producers of this soundtrack) were inspired instead to make lunkheaded Nü-metal.

Neil Young (w/ Pearl Jam), 'Mirror Ball', (1995).
Never dug Pearl Jam at all (greatly dislike Vedder's voice), but they are capable of righteous dumb-guy rocking, especially drummer Jack Irons (who played on Strummer's 'Earthquake Weather'). Written, recorded live and mixed in about four days, it rocks with a punch Crazy Horse's droning stomp never has. And "I'm the Ocean" moves with an intensity that, due to its lack of a chorus or bridge over its 7:06 run-time, forces you to follow the thread of images in the lyrics to their denouement, which I still find literally breathtaking after all these years of listening.

Hello,
The Ramones - Road to Ruin (40th Anniversary Edition). Great. Fun. Mixes. This is the latest of the 40th anniversary edition. It has the remastered mixes and the Basic Rough Mix/mixed-down/back/whatever mixes removing a lot of the sheen. There's a great show as well. 80 tracks total. Get it and listen to it.

Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul, 'Soulfire Live!' (2018)
Massive 3-CD set from last years tour; wonderfully recorded, no overdubs or anything, his voice getting less punky, one of the few instances of a singer getting better with age. This rocks and grooves mightily.

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
setlist on that Little Steven collection looks mighty tasty, might have to pick it up. He's coming to Colorado in, I think, December. Not someone I ever really though of as a must-see but his new stuff is so good I might have to prioritize it.

Rumskib, Rumskib. Pretty much textbook shoegaze (right down to the sleeve art), somewhere in between MBV and Lush.
