SUFFER FOR ME
also, re-listening to the original, it strikes me that kim carnes is basically the answer to the question "what if rod stewart was a chick?"
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

A) This is the right take on Kim Carnes.
B) I listened to fifteen seconds of the middle of that Chipmunks "version." What a diseased culture we exist within.
C) It's baffling what a huge hit that song was.

I prefer the Buhwheat version:

Still playing the Hugh Cornwell/John Cooper Clarke CD a lot. Good fun and makes me smile when his Manc accent still comes through on part of his singing. Link to Love Potion Number 9 video, live on 6 Music;

The Sound of Music. Yes, that The Sound of Music. But much to my surprise, it's not the sinister joke industrial cover album like Let It Be or other early Laibach. Apart from the occasional dark vocal, it's almost sweet and reverent. But there's also a North Korean aspect to it all, so it's not without intent, tho of what I'm not sure.

If you've never heard it, this reunion of Devoto and Shelley is quite enjoyable. Two old vets indulging in electronica and having a good time.
I'd also love a poster of that sleeve.

Shame this was the last vintage-era show, because it's arguably one of the best--if not the best--they ever played. The post-punkier sound is in full effect (including on old Devoto chestnuts like "Love Battery" and "Time's Up")...the 1, 2, 3-era stuff sounds absolutely menacing...and if egos hadn't collided the follow-through probably could've birthed them one more all-time great album.

Yeah I've got that show on DVD great stuff. A fourth album might've worked if they hadn't been so fucked up on coke etc. The demos of Pete and Steve are pretty average at best but interseting and some were re-used on Pete's first solo album and FoC.Rat Patrol wrote: ↑07 Dec 2018, 7:11amShame this was the last vintage-era show, because it's arguably one of the best--if not the best--they ever played. Pete's solo album contained stuff recorded way before punk started as his Jets of Air project.

For my money...maybe the greatest collection of singles in rock history.
