Alice Cooper in the first half of the 70s was a legit powerhouse. Great run.coffeepotman wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 1:36pmI've been on an Alice Cooper kick yesterday and today. Just saw a new doc on him called Super Duper Alice Cooper which was really good.

I bought this as a kid because the cover freaked me out. I had no idea who he? (she? I didn't know) was.

I’ve been listening to a few Sun Ra albums lately, and this one is a pretty good one. Funkier than a lot of what I’ve heard by him.

Sun Ra rules, always.
I've been playing these discs in the car, ascending to even greater heights of auditory Flexism:
Various Artists - Sample This! (1997)
BYO and Big Daddy Records sampler. Very '97: ska, swing and punk. Its sequel, Sample This, Too!, would lean much more into BYO's hardcore roster. This original sounds better to my ears than the sequel.
Various Artists - Ska: The Third Wave - Punk It Up (1998)
I grabbed volume 5, Swing It!, recently and decided to start working my way backwards through this comp series. Some bigger names from the third wave and some obscurities. Plus, the most 1998 imaginable ska band name ever: The Supaflies. Classic stuff.

The Clash - Give 'Em Enough Rope (1978)
Still holds up. One of the all-time great records. Cheapskates slays.

Hello,
I really like this. This, along with "Welcome to the Club", should be in everyone's collection.

Much like the concept of fire, Thag finds GEER's slab full of hate advanced and confusing.

Snakefinger, Chewing Hides the Sound.
Legendary Residents sideman's first solo album, which has the Residents playing on it, making it essentially another Residents album, albeit a much more focused, new-wavesque sounding one. Has his excellent cover of Kraftwerk's "The Model."

Man, it's easy to overlook the pre-Brix years, but those early singles exhibit a wonderful madness to them.

As good as the Brix years are, I probably listen to pre-Brix more.
Currently listening to:
Julie Christmas, The Bad Wife
Post-metal sludge rock. I love her vocals so much.

Evening listening. Cool and out.
Earl Hines - Tour de Force (1973)
Captivating pianist, imho. Brilliant set of music.
