Big Audio, 'Higher Power' (1994).
Not "great", but still great. Loads of charm, moments and even a few solid songs to be had. Mick Jones just plain doesn't put out crap. Bless 'im.

The worst album Mick's ever done, very lightweight, still fun.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 10:19pmBig Audio, 'Higher Power' (1994).

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
This kicks so much arse. A trad-ska album would have been great for Mick at some point, especially if he was having trouble looking for a song around the time. The '94 compositions lack a focus or purpose and to hang them on Jamaican rhythms would have really pushed it up a notch.

This has aged really, really well. It definitely sounds of its time, but its quality hasn't rusted one bit.

Had a few listens. I'd say mood-wise, they're quite similar, but Groovy Graham tends to be more rhythmic overall with more use of percussion.Kory wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 7:45pmCool, I'll digest this one and listen to those two and see what I think.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 7:42pmThe first Hox album and the first He Said Omala, I think. Pound for pound, Graham's solo stuff is the best in the group. A compilation of early experiments, pre>He, is super excellent.

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
As a divorced father of 2 small kids...I rarely splurge on pricey box sets these days - but I did pick up The Rolling Stones in Mono early this year and I have been exploring it off and on all year. Just took it back out earlier this week and digging back into it. The sound is a revelation. The UK version of Between the Buttons has always been my fave and I've had numerous versions - but first time I listened to the version from the mono box I was blown away. As I've re-listened and re-listened and re-listened to these albums over the past year - I'm reminded how good they were in the 60's.

Great album! They really screwed up on the stereo version, mono is the way to go with that one
