That summarizes the album. Pretty much a voyage thru hell.

Early Swans is very slow. Just grinding. Like a horror movie, it amps up the tension. By Children of God, there's a lot more variation in tempo and style.

Great, great music.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

David Bowie Leon Version 3 - Upside Down. A download courtesy of Guitars 101, this is an interesting bootleg taking a sidetrack from Bowie's career. Weird and wonderful.

Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson Band - 'Welcome to the Club' (1980)
One of the best live albums ever? Recorded over a seven night stand at the Roxy in LA, it almost sounds like an excellent audience recording at times - so engaged with the audience the band is and vice versa. I saw them on this tour in fall of '79 at Northrup Auditorium on the U of M campus; don't know how I survived the gig - security taking my bottle of rum when I went outside to look for some mates (and still letting me back in even though I was clearly blasted, and 16 as well); the show ending with Ian and Ronno both egging peeps from the front rows (the orchestra pit) on stage, mayhem ensuing. I managed to swipe one of Ronson's guitar picks from his mic stand as the lights came up, still have it (heavy gauge Fender, white).

Listening to this on a whim, given that I haven't been taken by the other albums under his name. But this actually did grow on me as it went. There are even a few songs that have a Ghost Box feel to them.

I'm not a Radiohead fan, but I thought The Eraser was ok. Mostly because of the production.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 1:56pm

Durutti Column albums good; Durutti Column sleeves with Vini Reilly's face on them bad.

In that case, we could judge the contents by the cover. Just awful all around.JennyB wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 3:37pmThat album cover though. Reminds me of this:Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 1:56pm
