They're definitely worth looking into. They're still putting out some really good music - maybe the best of their career. If you're familiar with the first 2 - you'll definitely hear a progression as you get into them. Never quite content to make the same record twice (though they came close a few times) - but also not one of those bands that think they can't recall earlier sounds in their modern music. Also a highly recommended live band. They're still fantastic.Olaf wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 1:09pmLove their first two LPs, but don't know much about their later output. This looks like a good place to start.WestwayKid wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 9:11amchruch.jpg
I always seem to come back to this recording. Sparse, haunting...recorded when Kilbey was getting clean. Great stuff. Great band.

Have to be in the mood for this, but when I am it's a joy...

Had no idea you liked this sort of thing.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Am always in the mood for this
If you like that try The Four Horsemen ' No One Said it was easy' on Def American, not so stadium orientated but still Rockin' Good.

All hail the value of a good gimmick in packaging. The band is called Video Shoppe and the album is called For Promotional Use Only - Not For Resale. And here's the track listing:
1.$1.05
2.$2.10
3. $3.15
4. RESERVED
5. late fees
6. ***NEW ARRIVALS***
7. Membership #:__________
8. Closing Credits
9. B85 - D01
So, yeah, eye-catching. The music is all instrumentals in the style of early 80s goth/dark post-punk, on the lo-fi side of things. If you told me this was recorded in 1981, I'd believe it. It's okay to listen to but it's more aping than even derivative.

I'm stupidly courageous. In truth I lasted just two songs before I moved onto the Flowers of Romance album.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 Aug 2018, 2:26pmYou're doing this voluntarily? I Like their sound, I wish Devo were a bit more like that but recorded on a spaceship in the future kind of thin9, Prince was indeed a talented man.
