I worked at Grasrotfestivalen, some local festival. Saw The New Wine, Matias Tellez, Kakkmaddafakka, Sissy Wish, Flødeklinikken, and several half-arsed bands.
If I were you I'd leave after the Weakerthans and leave a huge bomb on the festival site.
Thumbs up.

Seattle's Bumbershoot festival is coming up on Labor Day weekend (first weekend in Sept), and I'm really excited... Had a blast last year (part of the time by myself, even), and looking forward to another great time this year.

Band of Horses and !!! are the two I think I'm most looking forward to this year... And a whole host of other bands I'll be catching, hopefully.
You like Band of Horses and Spoon (from another thread)! Two great bands I never hear anyone talk about. Ace Kokey, Ace!
Hey thanks. :D
Figured they were a bit to "Indie" for anyone here to like --- I've eclectic taste in music.

BOH were fantastic when I saw them live last year.... Plus, I always feel like I'm taking a trip back to my childhood, when my dad listened to all those late-70s be-facial-haired bands... ;)

How do you feel about these ones? (Gonna try to see them at Bumbershoot, too):
Tapes n Tapes
Throw Me the Statue
Bedouin Soundclash
Xavier Rudd
I'll get on the indie bandwagon. I Like all the above bands mentioned (inc. Band of Horses and Spoon).

Fun stuff.

I REALLY, REALLY wanted to like Bedouin Soundclash. I was saddened when I finally had to admit, not my cup of tea.

Spoon's great but I don't think of them as indie anyway.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I personally find them to be tinny and anti-groovy. Also, the guitarist plays an acoustic with JS, Marley and Toots stencilled on, which is a bit corny in my book (or incredibly awesome if you like that sort of thing). I'm a dick.

Yeah I caught them last year at a festival, didn't like them very much. They just try way too hard.

Oh dear.... Well, I may still give them a shot -- have tickets for the whole weekend so won't cost me anything. :)

I like them and I have seen them in bars/music halls and at a festival. They sound way better in a bar/music hall. Just make sure you get up close enough to get rid of the usual festival sound issues. As a rule, I try to place myself at a distance equal to the width of the stage (or less). This usually gives a nice balanced sound.

So does the bloke in your sig. ;)
Well, 2 out of 3 of the shows I've seen, anyway.... One of them wasn't great; the last one I saw, though, was just seriously kick-ass. I was totally geeking out. :P

My buddy in Texas put this together, the Fun Fun Fun fest. I went last year. I'm too tired to go this year

Stage 3: Bad Brains, ALL, Dead Milkmen (reunion/only show), Flipper, Adolescents, Integrity, Bouncing Souls, Swingin Utters, DOA, Killdozer, Cromags (jam), Scared of Chaka, Young Widows, Leftover Crack, Trash Talk, World Burns to Death, Krumbums, Mammoth Grinder, Cute Lepers, Bitter End, High Tension Wires, Born to Lose

3 other non-punk stagers as well
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak
