There are lots of these bizarre anomalies with the US record buying public. Songs that sell millions around the world failing to even chart in the States. I liken it to the soccer situation where everyone got it but the Yanks.
It's a goopy song and you Limeys should be ashamed for buying so many copies.

So what does Marconi playing the mamba mean? "Marconi" is referring to the radio itself. It plays a deadly snake. The snake - the mamba - is slithering from the speakers. Ready to kill greedy corporations. Ready to free the world of all that is evil, and to leave behind only the youthful idealism encompassed by the tenets of rock and roll.

Lou Reed thought about doing Metal Machine Music with bagpipes but realized it would have made it an unlistenable racket.

I've been digging on Don't Let Me Down lately.

Addendum: The Billy Preston Beatles are good as hell:

Get Back
Don't Let Me Down
Something
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Dig A Pony
I've Got a Feeling
One After 909
The Long and Winding Road
Get Back
Dig It
Let It Be
"I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon." - Prince

Sous les pavés, la plage.

The innumerable Get Back boots show that it had the ingredients for a damned fine album. Even Let It Be isn't a bad album really, only relative to the rest of their records.

It's grown on me a lot in the last year or two. There are still a couple of snoozers, but most of the material is still pretty great. Now that the Beatles have plunged into the deluxe album treatment, it seems like a Let It Be/Get Back box is one of the next logical projects.

I've got the Let It Be 33 1/3 on my shelf waiting to be read—should be decent. ...Naked was an ok version, I guess.

Absolutely. Here's another collection of words:

Table salt (spoon hinge)
Octopus (Ukraine)
St. Petersburg (arms)
Ginger beer (cauliflower)
Pat Sajak (PSak)
Lamp post (self evident)
Florida Timeshare (ditto)
Heraclitus (EMI)
Developers (Developers Developers)
Boogie With Your Children

11/20. Inder, anything less than 16 and you should be forced to listen to "Freedom" on a loop for five hours straight.

The ones I should've had were Junior's Farm and Another Day.
I thought Mull of Kintyre was a massive hit in the 70s, but that wasn't one of the answers.

Kylie is a good example of this phenomenon.

Other than The Long and Winding Road, I didn't hear a great difference on the Naked version.

Oh yeah, and much like Kylie, I remember them enjoying a small portion of American success and then disappearing.

Their version of Comfortably Numb is far superior to the original.
