Not super keen on the song, but I love the title.coffeepotman wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 8:46amSour Milk Sea from the Esther demos! Too bad George gave that to Jackie Lomax, would have made a fine addition to the White album

That makes more sense. They were going for the unexpected a lot of the time, challenging convention.BitterTom wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 7:02amOnly just realised I meant And I Love Her. It came on earlier and though it's a solid track, I just don't like the chord it ends on. Doesn't call for a major chord to my ears.Heston wrote: ↑15 Apr 2019, 5:17pmSounds fine to me but I've been living with the song for years.BitterTom wrote: ↑15 Apr 2019, 4:50pmIf I Fell came on earlier and to be fair, it is absolutely beautiful. The vocals work perfectly with each other. May just be me though but do you lot think it ends on the wrong chord? Like I said, might just be my ears but doesn't sound the right chord to finish on.

Musically yes but lyrically it's crap.
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

The Beatles were always about the tunes for me.

My ears are for listening not reading. Those lyrics are twee crap. The tune is excellent.

Ok -- if I wanted Emily Dickinson, I'd listen to Emily Dickinson.

The Beatles lyrics certainly don't read well on paper. It was always about those great melodies, harmonies and chord shapes. The words are just there as a vehicle for those really.
