and while we're at it..

Tommy dear, are you lonesome tonight?
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

Oddly, this is one of a handful of Clash lyrics I never misheard.

Was playing a gig on Sunday and someone asked if we knew "Michael's Mad At Me" by Madness.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Surely they meant Michael Caine's Mad At Me.

All the Starbucks lovers - Taylor Swift Blank Space

If I ever meet her I will argue till the cows come home that that is what she says, despite her denials.

Listening to "Raw Ramp" by T. Rex with a nurse friend:

Actual lyrics: "Oh woman, I love your chests ooh, baby, I'm crazy 'bout your breasts.."

She heard: "Oh woman, I love your chest tube baby, I'm crazy 'bout your breasts"

My mother thought that song was called Werewolves of Thunder.

Oh many but for now, just off the top of my head

Smithers-Jones - The Jam
Actual: The clock on the wall hasn't yet struck 9
Misheard: The clock on the wall has an extra 9
Assumed it meant something I couldn't comprehend. I always assumed it meant something clever and when I finally realised it was wrong it was one of those, "oh yeah, that makes sense" moments.

Haha I have had a few of those of the years where you are looking for something complex and meaningful when the actual lyric is just the obvious.

I always thought it was that line as well! Like a kind of surreal clock that has extra numbers if you get to work early enough.

Another Jam one from Strange Town:

Me: I bought from the natives a guide book.

Weller: I bought an A to Z guide book.

From Mr. Clean : "a piece of toast from the one you love most, and you leave"

I heard "a piece of toast from the one you love most Angeline"

Which is my sisters name.
