Like it was yanked out of the 1960s. Silky smooth pop.

I was getting groceries today and the torture porn sound system was playing a cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" It confirmed to me that even removing Rod Stewart's cancer throat squawk, that song really, really sucks.

I’ll admit to liking the Revolting Cocks version. Was it that one or some other awful Rod Stewart dirge that kept the Pistols off the No.1 spot? Was only reminded of that the other day after hearing Paul Heaton claim on Top of the Pops 86 that Thatcher was responsible for Caravan of Love not getting to No.1. He didn’t offer any evidence for it, but still have no problem believing him.Heston wrote: ↑12 Jul 2018, 3:55pmHorrible song, and yes, Rod's voice annoys me greatly too.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 Jul 2018, 3:20pmI was getting groceries today and the torture porn sound system was playing a cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Your right, it was. What Heaton was actually alleging was that they rigged it so it wasn’t No.1 the following week as it was the Xmas chart.101Walterton wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 2:52amI thought Caravan Of Love was #1Low Down Low wrote: ↑12 Jul 2018, 4:48pmWas it that one or some other awful Rod Stewart dirge that kept the Pistols off the No.1 spot? How many really thought it was an anti government song.

Maybe Heaton was referring to the socialist undertones in the lyric.101Walterton wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 6:27amDon’t remember Maggie releasing a Xmas single?Low Down Low wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 3:51amYour right, it was. Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
Ha...no she didnt. It wasn't to do with the song itself apparently, but something Heaton had said on tv that had supposedly upset Thatcher and her husband so I guess the consequence or revenge was Caravan being denied the xmas No.1 spot. While he didnt offer any substantiating evidence, Heaton did claim that he'd been officially told they'd bagged the No.1 early that week only then to see Reet Petite get it instead. Sounds very plausible to me anyway. Well worth a watch I think and probably still available on the iplayer.101Walterton wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 6:27amDon’t remember Maggie releasing a Xmas single?Low Down Low wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 3:51amYour right, it was.
