I haven't seen a ton of Queen live footage beyond like Live Aid, but this was exemplary:

And holy shit can Roger Taylor sing. I mean he's no Freddie, but holy shit does he sound good on the last minute or so, particularly that last note he does in the closing like 15 seconds.
Brilliant, I'd never seen that before. Roger did all the high stuff on a lot of their back catalogue. He's very prominent on Bo Rap, that's him doing the high "Galileos".

Out of interest, have you seen the movie yet?
First thing that caught my eye when it was recommended on Youtube was the quality of the film. This looks amazing at a time that Bruce's River concert was recorded on video, not film. But yeah, it's a really different arrangement and structure of the song and a ton of fun.

Haven't seen the movie yet. Can't watch movies in the theaters these days, but I'm not generally interested in biopics. I might catch it on a plane or something. I'm particularly turned off by the resequencing and white lies used to generate story impact.

Oh, I did see the first half hour of London Town the other day. It wasn't terrible, but my wife didn't like me pointing out all the minor factual inaccuracies (WMHP wasn't on the first album for example (not the UK version which is obviously what he would have)). I'll get back to it and I'm sure the more Myers Strummer I see, the worse it will get. His stage mannerisms were way off thus far.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

London Town is a pile of rubbish. No redeeming qualities at all. It may have worked slightly better as a time capsule just about punk. But as it used The Clash as it's basis it is one huge failure.

I'm well aware of the feedback, particularly from here, so my expectations are super low. But I can't not see a film about the Clash right?

Yep agreed totally my reason for watching it. I knew prior to watching that I would hate it.

Also, Myers is IN HIS FUCKING FORTIES and Joe would have been 24-25 at the time.

The African American History Museum has a great section on music. Bad Brains, Fishbone and Death were all represented as well as other music Heston hates because it's too old.

Death? Wow, that's surprising and cool as hell.

It's so predictable there's zero meaningful content there. Yeah, a few surprising picks, but generally a tired old round-up of the classic rock canon.

These lists are so boring and a total waste of space.
