It's so predictable there's zero meaningful content there. Yeah, a few surprising picks, but generally a tired old round-up of the classic rock canon.

Talking to new coworker about music the other day. Things were going well. Then he mentions Alanis Morrisette then it was akward silence followed by me trying unsuccessfully to get the conversation back on track.

Haven’t looked and not going to as I have decided I don’t care what other people like or what other people think of what I like.

Oh, I feel your pain. I have a coworker who started a few months ago. She seemed really cool at the time, but then she mentioned that she and her husband both love Barenaked Ladies. Interestingly enough, as the months have gone by, I have started liking her less and less. Is there a study about the connection between terrible Canadian music and annoying personalities?
Doc? I have your new project. Publish or perish, my friend.

(I'm guessing, anyway.)
There is no way I would immerse myself in shitty music just to get an article or book from it. I'm always mystified by the horrible crap people will specialize in just to stand out. I met someone whose diss was on the Canadian west coast fisheries during World War II. Can you imagine spending seven years or so of your life living that? A dull topic and, really, pretty damned marginal. Dream small and boring, kids, and the kingdom will be yours.

Yeah, that's...specific. And no, i cannot imagine that. But I am also super lazy, so I can't even imagine spending seven years on anything.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑26 Nov 2018, 10:53amJennyB wrote: ↑26 Nov 2018, 10:43amOh, I feel your pain. So my son just came across one of those top 100 artists of all time lists. You should have heard him, "How is Katy Perry better than James Brown?!" ...etc. I naturally was the voice of reason and said all those lists are garbage and if you want to get angry keep looking at it otherwise ignore it.

You should take that young man for ice cream on account of his respect for the timeless James Brown.revbob wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 10:10pmSo my son just came across one of those top 100 artists of all time lists. Tell him about home James Brown saved Boston. It’s an under noted event worthy of celebration.

Ice cream is tough to find this time of year, unless you go to a Ben and Jerry's store.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 10:24pmYou should take that young man for ice cream on account of his respect for the timeless James Brown.revbob wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 10:10pmSo my son just came across one of those top 100 artists of all time lists. I remember reading about this incident, I think you might told me about it originally.

Pet project of mine if I get around to writing a screenplay. The best character is the twenty something Barney Frank who acted as the liaison between Mayor White’s camp and James Brown’s camp. There’s also a bit about Brown receiving a briefcase full of cash on the tarmac at Logan to agree to play.revbob wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 11:12pmIce cream is tough to find this time of year, unless you go to a Ben and Jerry's store.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 10:24pmYou should take that young man for ice cream on account of his respect for the timeless James Brown.revbob wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 10:10pmSo my son just came across one of those top 100 artists of all time lists.
