I won't even pretend to start discussing the relative merits of the ordering, or pick at what should have been included instead of what's in it, but I think I love every single one of those albums listed so they musta got something right.JennyB wrote: ↑20 Mar 2018, 11:31amThoughts?

There's a part of me that is opposed to ranking punk records. It's applying the idea of a canon to a genre that was arguably rooted in rejecting that kind of approach to art. I still play that game of listing favourites and all that, but I do question the intellectual fidelity to punk values.JennyB wrote: ↑20 Mar 2018, 11:31amThoughts?

As should X Ray Spex. And Discharge should be way lower. As in, so low it's off the list entirely.Kory wrote: ↑20 Mar 2018, 12:34pmStill, Siouxsie should be way fucking higher.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑20 Mar 2018, 12:11pmThere's a part of me that is opposed to ranking punk records. Could debate positions all day but for me The Ruts way to low! Swap with The Skids.
Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
I noticed they left off the Violent Femmes self titled, which I consider a seminal album. Is it punk, though?

Why not? And for a good dead-horse question: what constitutes "punk"?
