Christ, What a Great Song

Post by Flex »

Could go in the covers thread too, but damned this is my favorite version of "My Girl" and probably one of my favorite recordings of all time. Top 10, easy:

God, Otis was great.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I dug it and obviously Otis is one of the greats. I am a sucker for the harmonies of the original though. In the end, i'd put them about even.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
