I'm speaking from ancient experience, by the way, since I haven't known a non-insane girl I could actually date since, damn, over a year ago now.
I meant I just stopped giving a damn about the outcome of drunk dialing women.

The new Tegan and Sara album: not as good as I remember from last night. But pretty decent. If you like that sort of thing, it's the sort of thing you like.

Last night: surprisingly uneventful. Except for an initial shot of tequila, I stuck with cheap wine (two bottles of cheap wine, but still...) Nothing interesting happened except I got to lay down some serious knowledge on eumaas for which I'm sure he's eternally grateful.

Nothing has made a big immediate impact the way The Con, Back in Your Head, and Hop a Plane did on the last album. I am going to give it more spins as it supposedly requires repeated listenings compared to the older albums.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yo Dawg,

Listening to the new T&S more, I think the album gets stronger with repeated listens but I also think that the second half of this is markedly stronger than the first half.

Listening to the new Weezer too. I like it. I think it's an upgrade from Red Album, very rockin'

Yeah, I'm definitely going to give it many more spins before developing a definitive opinion.

As for the new Weezer album, I can get through the album quite easily as opposed to Red which had about four songs that I would never ever listen to and five if you include Everybody Get Dangerous which I hardly ever listened to. I was a bit disappointed that two songs from his last demo album were used and that they were pretty much the same (different arrangement but same melodies). I will have to pick up the deluxe version to dig on the bonus tracks. So far my favorite tracks are the ones with the AAR guys (Put Me Back Together) which is typical of their power ballad sound but works pretty well for Rivers, Love is the Answer which has all the Indian touches which would bother me as novelty if not for the fact that the song is pretty well written, and Let It All Hang Out which is majorly infectious. All the songs are either generic or retarded lyrically, so I have just been shutting them off in my mind.

Oh and is this not completely absurd?

There is a version of the new single as a duet with Sara Bareilles who is quite a cutie in my opinion

I read the name "Kenny G." and decided not to listen.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I have been reading some Raditude reviews trying to find one I really agree with. One thing I find funny is critics' complaints about Rivers occasionally going into "hip hop" lyricism, using "homies" instead of "friends" for example. This criticism rings hallow with me since every review also mentions the days when the group was legitimately good which also happens to be the time when the first lyric to one of their biggest singles was "What's with these homies dissing my girl?" Just an observation.

Huh, I didn't read that particular bit of critique. That's funny. I think "homie" is just kind of widespread vernacular now, anyways.

Pitchfork
Elsewhere on Raditude, Cuomo whines about going to work, pressures girls into third base, parrots hip-hop slang, escapes into ridiculous fantasy
Spin
superficial genre-hopping, embarrassing diction -- "friends" are referred to as "homies," etc

Makes sense it would be Pitchfork and Spin.

Indeed. Racistly derivative of Pavement, it is. There needs to be a one-million mussed-hair/thick-glasses/ironic-shirt grad student march over this.
