The Greatest Hits, So Far
This one deserves a special place in hell for being a singles comp...but then spitefully substituting the "This Is Not A Love Song" single for the TIWYW... album version with the stupid horns to short the amount of Levene heard on record to a barest minimum.
I'll agree the TIWYWTIWYG version sucks big time. Athough that comp did have that remix of "Rise" which was unavailable elsewhere at the time I think. What was just as sinful was that Plastic Box also contained that fucking horrible version of "Love Song". Spite maybe or maybe John just feels his version is better. It was good enough to release it as a single and 12'' at the time with the great "Blue Water" the real single in my book and a reissue of "Public Image". I remember thinking when I bought the album how I couldn't wait to get home and give it a spin after liking the 12'' so much and owning the Commercial Zone semi legit release. But boy what a monumental Cut the Crap moment when the needle hit the grooves. I think it has 3 decent tracks on it "Tie Me to the Length of That", "1981" and "The Order of Death". Which in PiL's defence is just under half the album (the lazy fuckers). All the tracks on Commercial Zone work well and has a cohesive feel about it with that stripped back sound. Whereas TIWYWTIWYG sounds like they just gave up and threw in everything including the kitchen sink.
Marky, I hate to bother you with this, but do you have a downloadable version of what we might consider the "final" CZ? I have a couple versions, I think in various levels of completion and I don't know which is which.

Also, I think everything after "Solitaire" is good.
How rude!

Lydon didn't really have dreads in '88 right? They're extensions I assume.

Yes they were wire extensions. Woven into his real hair.

I much doubt that is why that...thing...gets as much tail as it does. Having utterly senseless riches and being willing to spend it at any VIP lounge in New York has a lot more to do with it.

That ain't actually him, is it?
The article says he's kept a low profile lately, and only mentions being out with his wife as if that was it. He did a blistering live set i Dundee's Church two weeks past Friday. That maybe doesn't count as something in the Daily Mail's eyes, but I had a jolly good time albeit with limited view.

Sure is. Why do you want to borrow his pyjamas?

I guess at 62 he's entitled to pile on some weight. I just hope his health isn't suffering. Maybe he needs another stint in the jungle.

I don't think the pattern is helping. He's probably not as big as he looks here.

Hard to say, but he appears to have put on quite a bit of weight.
