Dig Out Your Soul was a really good album, Liam's song on it (I'm Outta Time) is absolutely bangin, his song writing is definitely improving.
The songs Gem writes & the songs Andy writes are really good as well, in theory they go on without Noel but it wouldn't be the same band.

Apparently, and no idea where the media got this from, Noel left because Liam said Noel weren't Anais' (Noel's daughter from Meg Matthews) father and Noel just lost it.

I want the management, or at least Liam to come out and say summat 'cos we're in the dark here.

Ha, you're right. Hadn't noticed it before, but it is a steal.

Oasis were the last of the great XX century english bands. They had a passion for punk and the beatles. They really meant it maan, they were true punk geezers like most of us. It's great they split thought, now the legend can begin.

I have to disagree. They may have had a passion for punk, but their plodding music didn't reflect it. Their lyrics were also the biggest pile of apolitical twaddle I've had the misfortune of hearing. For a man who grew up in the political cauldron of late-70s northern England, Noel had very little to say in his lyrics.

I've always thought Oasis lyrics were strange. Phonetically, the words sound great with the tunes, especially on Definitely Maybe with all the "shee-eye-nuh" etc.... Noel knew how to get the right sounds out of his brother.

But then you actually look at the words and what they mean, and the lyrics aren't very good, they just don't make much sense about everything. And while some of the songs were going for the trippy, strange psychedelic lyrics, I still think lyrics were the weak spot of the band.

Shame they broke up, but Noel can do his own thing and it should please Oasis fans.

Nah, nah - not avin this - not avin none of that "the lyrics are shit"
The lyrics are absolutely amazing - part of the reason I love Oasis. Noel Gallagher is a fucking genius, an absolutely brilliant lyricist.

Is it my imagination/ Or have I finally found something worth living for?/ I was looking for some action/ But all I found was cigarettes and alcohol.

I live my life for the stars that shine/ People say it's just a waste of time/ When they said I should feed my head/ That to me was just a day in bed/ I'll take my car and drive real far/ To where they're not concerned about the way we are/ Cos in my mind my dreams are real/ Are you concerned about the way I feel

Maybe I will never be/ All the things that I want to be/ But now is not the time to cry/ Now's the time to find out why/ I think you're the same as me/ We see things they'll never see/ You and I are gonna live forever

Slip inside the eye of your mind/ Don't you know you might find/ A better place to play/ You said that you'd once never been/ All the things that you've seen/ Will slowly fade away// So I start the revolution from my bed/ Cos you said the brains I have went to my head/ Step outside the summertime's in bloom/ Stand up beside the fireplace/ Take that look from off your face/ You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

Wake up the dawn and ask her why/ A dreamer dreams she never dies/ Wipe that tear away now from your eye/ Slowly walking down the hall/ Faster than a cannon ball/ Where were you when we were getting high?

It's a bit early in the midnight hour for me/ To go through all the things that I want to be/ I don't believe in everything I see/ Y'know I'm blind so why d'you disagree// So take me away cos I just dont want to stay/ Cos all the lies you make me say/ Are getting deeper every day/ These are crazy days but they make me shine/ Time keeps rolling by

They're trying hard to put me in my place/ And that is why I've gotta keep running/ The future is mine and it's no disgrace/ Cos in the end the past means nothing// You tell me I'm free then you tie me down/ And from my chains I think it's a pity/ What did it cost you to wear my crown/ You don't like me why don't you admit it

Paint no illusion, try to click with what you got/ Taste every potion, and if you like yourself a lot/ Go let it out, go let it in, go let it out// Life is precocious in the most peculiar way/ Sister psychosis, she don't got a lot to say/ She go let it out, she go let it in, she go let it out/ She go let it out, she go let it in, she go let it out// Is it any wonder why princes and kings/ Are clowns that caper in their sawdust rings?/ Ordinary people that are like you and me/ We're the keepers of their destiny

You know that feeling you get?/ You feel you're older than time/ You ain't exactly sure/ If you've been away awhile/
Do you keep the receipts/ For the friends that you buy?/ And ain't it bittersweet?/ You were only just getting by// And I hope you know that it won't let go/ It sticks around with you until the day you die/ And I hope you know that it's touch and go/ I hope the tears don't stain the world that waits outside/ Where did it all go wrong?

Here's another sunday morning call/ You hear your head a-bangin' on the door/ Slip your shoes on and then out you crawl/ Into a day that couldn't give you more/ But what for?// And in your head do you feel/ What you're not supposed to feel?/ And you take what you want/ But you don't get it for free/ You need more time/ Cos your thoughts and words won't last forever more/ But I'm not sure if it'll ever work out right

We the people fight for our existence/ We don't claim to be perfect but we're free/ We dream our dreams alone with no resistance/ Fading like the stars we wish to be// Y'know I didn't mean/ What I just said/ But my god woke up on the wrong side of his bed/ And it just don't matter now// Cause little by little/ We gave you everything you ever dreamed of/ Little by little/ The wheels of your life have slowly fallen off/ Little by little/ You have to give it all in all your life/ And all the time I just ask myself why/ You're really here

And when you look in the mirror and your tying all your buttons and bows/ And as you face your disease you can squeeze into the emperor's clothes/ You found your God in a paperbag/ You get your history from the Union Jack/ And all your brothers and sisters have gone and they wont come back

Gold and silver and sunshine is rising up/ Pour yourself another cup of Lady Grey/ Take my hand in the meantime, when you've had enough/ You'll find me on the end of a runway, babe// Tell the world that you love them in a melody/ Send my old piano and a telegram/ Gotta get me a doctor with a remedy/ I'm gonna talk a walk with the Monkey Man!

I got my feet on the street but I can't stop flyin',/ My head's in the clouds but at least I'm tryin',/ I'm out of control but I'm tied up tight,/ Come in, come out tonight.// There's a hole in the ground into which I'm fallin',/ So God speed to the sound of the poundin',/ I'm all into the blinding light,/ Come in, come out, come in, come out tonight..

Spend your days just working an shopping/ dependin' on how much your luck is in/ spend your nightlife table hopping/ and trying to keep that bag a bones in trim// i don't mind not feelin' immortal/ cause it ain't all that as far as i can tell/ i don't mind not going to heaven/ as long as they've got cigarettes/ as long as they've got cigarettes in hell

cause i gave all my money to people and things/ and the price i'm still paying/ for the shit that it brings/ doesn't fill me with hope for/ the songs that you sing/ tonight this is your life/ angel child// when you find out/ when you find out who you are you'll know/ you'll be free/ to see your own ability/ but there'll be no eyes/ no eyes that seen such beauty could lose their sight/ and there'll be no lies/ no lies that you could tell me to make things right

its funny how your dreams change as you're growing old/ you don't wanna be no spaceman/ you just want the gold/ all the dreamstealers are lying in wait/ but if you wanna be a spaceman it's still not too late

I'll meet you on a day that never ends/ I'll greet you in a way that heaven meant/ You lay me down gently on the leaves/ You cover me over in my sleep// I never did say that I wish I could/ I never could pray cos it's just no good/ I hope you don't break my heart of stone/ I don't wanna scream out loud/ And wake up on my own

It's better people love one another/ cause livin' your life can be tough/ it's better people speak to each other/ your shame is not enough/ if everybody came alive and stayed alive/ and lived their lives instead yeah/ so come outside and feel the light/ it's cold inside but its lonely in your bed/ in your bed
Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead...

What about this gem...

slowly walking down the hall
faster than a cannonball

and my personal favourite...

little James
we're all the same
always seem to look to us
we weren't meant to be grown ups
thank you for your smile
You make it all worth while to us

live for your toys
even though they make noise
have you ever played with plasticine
even tried a trampoline
thank you for your smile
you make it all worthwhile
to us

i'm singing this song
for you and yer mom
and that's all
it wont be long,
before everyone is gone

sailed out to sea
yer mom you and me
you swam the oceans like a child
life around us was so wild
thank you for your smile
you make it all worth while
to us

i'm singing this song
for you and yer mum
and that's all
it wont be long
before everyone is gone

That's epic that - when I first heard that I thought it was golden.
I know you're taking the piss but I'm not bothered.

As for Little James - Liam wrote that fer his stepson. It's daft but the ideas expressed are really sweet. It's a sentimental track.
He wrote I'm Outta Time for the new album - go read them lyrics.

Those Oasis lyrics are well enough, but that's no

Caroline says
as she gets up off the floor
Why is it that you beat me
it isn't any fun

...

Caroline says
as she gets up from the floor
You can hit me all you want to
but I don't love you anymore

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

That's a haunting song, that.
Then again, the whole album is.

Those lyrics are okay, but they're no "Punch in the Face" by Negative FX.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Not all of them are terrible, there are some good ones, but take a look at something like Magic Pie or Supersonic... turd.

That being said, Cast No Shadow, Don't Go Away, and Half the World Away all have great lyrics.
