I think my biggest problem with IAE is it doesn't feel like it belongs.

Bowie made everyone feel like they belong. It's a metaphor.

I am really getting into the Bowie 95-97 Bowie phase, Post Black tie pre acoustic 50th birthday celebrations, that little nitch where he made some incredible music along the electronica lines. Some great shows are available, the LiveandWell comp is fantastic and floating around on the internet. I love how he would perform as Tao Jones Index and not have a light on him. Just willing to take chances like that are amazing. He really was doing what he wanted and that was cool. I love the electronica remakes of the old songs, Andy Warhol in particular was fantastic.

This phase doesn't get a lot of love from fans but I think needs to be given a fresh new look and listen. Some shows to investigate are Dublin and St. Louis 95, Rockpalast and Phoenix Festival 1996 and Boston or Budapest 1997.

My first Bowie show was the Glass Spider and it was awful, tried to get into a Tin Machine gig but couldn't, the 1990 world tour was pretty sterile but this phase was electric! After this he went MOR and I did get to see him quite a few times 99-03, he never disappointed

That era is pretty awesome. Earthling is one of my personal underrated faves.

Bowie era that statement doesn't apply to? Mid-to-late 80s maybe?

1984-1993, with some exceptions.
