Beatles albums without the other Beatles

Post by Dr. Medulla »

I lean towards either Ram or All Things Must Pass. The best tracks of either of POB or Imagine are better than the best of Ram or ATMP, but there's a lot of substandard material there, too.

I was eleven or so when I saw it in the theatre. I loved it. But I also loved Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, so I don't know how I'd still feel about it. Hard to dislike anything with Ringo even as it's hard to love anything with Ringo.

That is the wisest thing I've ever read.

Mitigating factors re. Caveman. Dennis Quaid and Shelley Long, who pretty much suck at everything other than cashing undeserved paycheques. But it also has Jack Gilford, a great comedic actor who was a go-to-guest star in pretty much all 70s tv comedy (because he was consistently excellent), and a man blacklisted in the 1950s after being named in HUAC hearings. It also has fart jokes and a dinosaur getting whacked in the nuts. So much to ponder …

All of their solo output screams for "greatest hits" packages, and I would pick those over any of the listed albums.

McCartney and Lennon, definitely. There's only a couple songs not on ATMP when talking about Harrison.

I've only heard a couple of Beatle solo album's, they have a lot of filler to go along with some great tunes.
I voted for Band on the Run since it has the track 'Picasso's Last Words', one of the great solo Mcartney songs.

I'd go with Ocean Colour Scene's - Mosely Shoals.

Wasn't Paul the best Beatles drummer? He would be, the smug twat.

Yeah, it was understood that he was the best musician in the band, regardless of instrument (except sitar, I suppose). "The Ballad of John & Yoko," for example, was Paul on drums. Perhaps if he was less talented, or, say, George was more talented, some of the conflicts would have been averted.

(Just finished reading Philip Norman's "Shout!" the other day, so I have Beatles on the mind. An utterly biased pro-John book that takes some unjustified shots at Paul and way too many at George.)
