No offense, but I think I was a happier person before I knew this existed...

Why? It's not that bad. It's a soundboard of a rehearsal. It's loose, sloppy and fun.

That's allright, I just have an irrational (or perhaps entirely rational?) dislike for SRV. His constipatory string bends make me want to die, but if you say its good, maybe I'll have to get over myself...

He's not the best sideman for Bowie, no. But he did actually play on the album, so he was originally slated to be on this tour, but decided against it at the last minute (probably because his own career was picking up).

It's fun enough, but definitely not a classic.

I really like that era of Bowie, and its clear that SRV's wankery was kept at bay in that scenario, so I might check it out.

If you dislike Stevie Ray, you should see Jimmy Vaughn... about ten times as wankier and ten times less talented. Had to sit through him opening for Bob Dylan twice.

I won't tell Earl Slick you said that
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

Or Adrian Belew.

Or Robert Fripp.

Or even Carlos Alomar
