We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

I just realized that I said I was coming back to IMCT and then disappeared for months AGAIN. Lots has been going on work-wise. THOSE ARTIFACTS DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES! So...that's my excuse.
Anyways, I have had a dismal year in terms of concerts (see above), however, last summer I saw Arcade Fire in Toronto and it was a transcendental experience. Is that too much? It was fucking amazing. I cried actual tears.
More recently, I have gotten into this band called Metronomy, thanks to my bf, and we are going to see them in February at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. This is a band that has taken me a while to get into, but I'm kind of obsessed with them now. Their album "English Riviera" is phenomenal. Anyone else a Metronomy fan here?

Never heard of 'em. How would you describe them?Alyssa wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 10:09pmMore recently, I have gotten into this band called Metronomy, thanks to my bf, and we are going to see them in February at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. Oh yeah, Metronomy are worth checking out. Not everyone's cuppa tea, each album is different. English Riveria is one of their better known albums, think some of the band are from that part of the world i.e. Torbay. I like the Nights Out album, quirky.Alyssa wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 10:09pmI just realized that I said I was coming back to IMCT and then disappeared for months AGAIN. Lots has been going on work-wise. Very cool to the latter, very lukewarm to the former.

I'm planning to see Sarah Shook and the Disarmers in November.

I saw Shonen Knife on October 2.
They were fabulous.

Just bought a round trip to NY to see the mighty Groove Collective in December. A huge risk, given that it's so far out, but they never leave NY so I figure if I ever want to see them in my lifetime, I'm going to have to take it into my own hands.

Last night I saw Vic Godard & The Subway Sect supported by the Distractions. In a room in a pub in Salford about the size of my kitchen! Great night, Vic and the boys were in great spirits, played a few new songs from a shortly to be released Mick Jones-produced album which sounded great, one was probably the best of the night, eclipsed even Ambition, Stool Pigeon and Double Negative. Well worth seeing. Heston, they are playing the Cumberland Arms in Newcastle in early December, in case you are interested.
