SLAPSHOT.

The Oriental Theatre, Denver.

November 30th.

There will be blood.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I see they're playing here in a few weeks. I have trouble drumming up pals who would go to these kind of shows.

That is my problem. If I want to see a band I will go on my own if I have to (went to The Big Day Out on my own just to see Joe in 2000 and thank god I did) but I have missed loads of good ones because I can’t be arsed going on my own.

Same here. I have few real friends who share my taste in music. And often the shows that come around are middle of the week and start at 11pm.

On the flip side I am often invited to shows or weekends away to see *insert usual IMCT favourites*, “no thanks have a good time”.

You’ve reminded me of the time I was visiting a friend in NYC and we went to see Billy Bragg playing in a small off Broadway theatre. For reasons that escape me, we bought face value tickets from a guy outside so my pal and his girlfriend took the two that were together while I took the separate one. To my surprise I found I was sitting next to the guy who had sold us the tickets in one of those double seat arrangements I hadn’t seen since attending the cinema as a teenager trying to get a smooch. It was uncomfortably tight and to make it worse the jet lag struck with a vengeance mid way through and my legs started to cramp up in a serious way.

The moral of the story is I am more than happy to go to gigs on my own as long as it’s a standing scenario, but hell will have to freeze over before I even consider going alone to an all seater gig again.

Yes, the bands we love to hate. They have a winery tour headlined by acts like Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Toto, CCR, Billy Joel etc etc

Okay I don't know what would constitutes CCR these days but they were an exceptional band in their day unlike the others mentioned.

I'm going to see some old soul singers on Friday.

This was the best $40 I’ve spent in ages. I saw some nearly elderly soul professionals from 10 feet (3 meters) out. Fantastic music.
