I agree. Several months ago I posted a question regarding whether or not musicians should retire from performing and this statement is indeed quite thoughtful.Flex wrote: ↑01 Jun 2018, 9:37amPaul Simon had a genuinely pretty good comment I want to remember: "I want to explain why I'm retiring from touring. When things end how I hope they will, I want people to be able to say 'he had a good life's not just 'he had a good career.'" Genuinely thoughtful comment.

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?
Engaged in a rare gig experience last night, when three of the Trashcan Sinatras came thru town (sans rhythm section). As part of my birthday, we splurged on the VIP meet n greet hoo ha. All three were perfectly charming. A few things worth noting.
• I was wearing this shirt:
The lead guitarist, Paul, said he saw me outside and remembered seeing Swans on tv back in the 80s and not knowing what to make of the sheer nasty noise. Which was a roundabout way, I think, of asking how the hell I can like both bands.
• When chatting with Frank, the singer (who, I've mentioned before, bears a more than passing resemblance to Wolter), he asked what the missuz and I do. Which led to me talking about the rock class I teach. He asked for a book recommendation so I mentioned McKinney's Magic Circles. His face lit up because he read it last year and was as blown away by it, and was surprised to find someone else who loves it. Which led to a discussion about the book and all that. Funny strange.
Fun show, tho a pretty geriatric crowd. B and I are 49 and we skewed to the younger side (there's an indictment there about something, I think). They played their first two albums in full, plus scattered songs from other albums. It was a wonderful reminder of how much I still love those records—near-perfect guitar pop in a Smiths/Aztec Camera vein—even if my usual taste tend to move in other directions these days. TCS is still one of a handful of bands that I pre-order anything they announce.

Yeah, it was decent, tho the crowd noise during breaks—not the music—fucked with my epilepsy. Having 20 conversations in earshot makes me literally nauseous (not massively, but noticeably). That's a huge reason why I don't go to many shows.

Went to the Burger Boogaloo festival last Sunday to see The Damned. Jello joined them on stage. Also met Fred Armisen, who was Devo’s drummer at the festival the night before.

Hello,
I wonder what Thomas Dolby earns for his 15 minutes?

He had to share it with the Pirate Twins.
Marc did "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" but NO SEX DWARF! I was about to murder, but good thing I have a short attention span. Adam killed it, like duh.

Haha, I actuaIy though all of them were good, and i did manage to sneak a few breaks. For bumps, they wouldn't let me out to smoke.

Man, it feels like AA is in LA every few months. Sounds like he's still killing it, if the clips on yt are anything to go by.
