I bought two tickets to the Peter Hook and the Light concert next month.

In other fabulous news, ABBA has recorded two new songs and are scheduled to tour next year.
To quote post punk artiste Barry Gibb and the cat in the hat it is a virtual reality tour.
I like my ABBA the same way I like my porn. :shifty:

Possible West Coast IMCT meet up?

Are there any IMCTers who would want to see DEVO and The Damned at the "Burger Boogaloo" June 30/July 1 in Oakland?
HOSTED BY JOHN WATERS, Devo, The Damned, Le Shok, The Traditional Fools, The Mummies, The Rip-Offs, The Spits, Hunx And His Punx, Mudhoney, Dwarves, Giuda, The Gris Gris, Quintron and Ms Pussycat, The Flakes, Firestarter, Subsonics, The Flytraps, CUMSTAIN, Battleship, Nots, Francis Lau
I'd fly out there to see this show, especially because DEVO may not be playing much any more. This is their only show scheduled so far this year.

Any interest?

Saw Franz Ferdinand last night at a medium sized rock venue in Milwaukee. Place was packed. I'd only consider myself to be a casual fan of the group - but I have to admit they put one a pretty darned good show.

That looks like a solid two-and-a-half hours.

Just got back yesterday from our jaunt to Tulsa to see Depeche Mode. I know I am biased, but it was fantastic. They have so much energy and passion, and they played a solid two and a half hours. Martin even sang The Things You Said, which they haven't played since 1988. I don't normally drink, but I like to at concerts. We were in about the 20th row, but, thanks to my liquid courage, I sneaked up to the front for a few minutes and was able to take a few great pics and video. I can't believe I was five feet away from a band I've loved since 1985. And, yes, while Dave currently resembles the Crypt Keeper, I still would.

Saw Paul Simon last night and he was awesome. Whatever he may be in his personal life, he puts on a fun, warm and engaging live show. He's one of those artists who starts running through his numbers and you realize how deep his catalog is. Played a little of everything, from S&G tunes to his big 'ol hits to a few deep cuts and some recent material. Crowd was into the whole thing (as was I). Tons of fun. Glad I got to see him before he hangs it up (supposedly).

That's everything I'd want him to sing.

There was a story the other day about Simon fucking up the lyrics to a song so as punishment—to himself, not the audience—he did The 59th Street Bridge Song, which he hates (because he's a grouch, I guess).

Also, my doctoral supervisor told me that Lydia Lunch played here last week. She assumed I knew about it, so she didn't tell me about it beforehand. Rats and double rats.

Paul Simon had a genuinely pretty good comment I want to remember: "I want to explain why I'm retiring from touring. When things end how I hope they will, I want people to be able to say 'he had a good life's not just 'he had a good career.'" Genuinely thoughtful comment.

Speaking of Paul Simon - when I was in college, I did an internship at States News Service (a wire service). I was covering some congressional hearing, and going from one building to the other. At the time, one could ride the subway in the capitol. Anyway, I sat next to Senator Paul Simon. When I told my mom, she thought I was talking about the singer.

Glad it was a good show, Flex. I have a soft spot for Simon and Garfunkel because they played such a prominent role in my childhood, before I discovered punk and new wave.
