So I had by first cataract surgery this morning—all went fine, I can see well out of the fixed eye—and in the OR, the soundtrack was chart songs from the 80s. There was "Karma Chameleon," "Puttin' on the Ritz," and … fucking "We Built This City." As it started, in my head, I said, "Fuck off, Heston."

Thanks! I got absolutely zilch out of the anxiety medication they gave me beforehand. Felt no change at all. But they fucked up my eye with all kinds of gels and drops that I didn't know what was happening. I'm still sensitive to bright light right now from the forced pupil dilation, but it's like the world has switched to HD in my right eye. And the left, I now can see, turned it into a yellow-grey fog. So I'm suddenly eager to get the other eye fixed—that's in two months time. But it already feels like I've gotten my life back.Marky Dread wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 1:04pmWell done mate. Knew you would be fine. Thanks, fellers. I honestly can't remember the world being so vibrant in colour. It's a minor miracle.
Also, as I was waiting for the surgery to start, I had the thought, what if the lens being implanted allows someone to see everything I see, that I would become an unwitting spy on myself. Not quite x-ray eyes, but in the ballpark.
