I read that at school today.
And I found it really say...
And I found it really say...
Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead...

Ugh...please don't turn him into a Jim Morrisson-type dead rock god. Though Ian Curtis actually had talent.

thank fuck they never buried joe and put up a headstone. all the wailing hippies visiting and posting their photographs taken besideJennyB wrote:Ugh...please don't turn him into a Jim Morrisson-type dead rock god. Though Ian Curtis actually had talent.
the graffitied monolith would have been an insult. maybe the camden steps are the stone memorial?
you can never have too many photographs of people who've visited the steps.

I have to agree, I think his family was smart for not putting up a headstone, too ---- his 'memorial stone' is a giant boulder (rendering it un-stealable, perhaps) at Glasto. I think the Steps are a good 2nd (and easier to get to ).
(I've got my photos.... heh)
(Oh yeah, and I was actually coming into this forum to post about Ian's headstone..... Fucking people. I swear, if people were REALLY fans of his, they wouldn't be disrespecting his widow, et al. Bitches.)

Dear Macc police. I'd guess it might be a Joy Division fan. I hope this is a useful first apparent lead.A police spokesman said: "There is no CCTV in the area and there are no apparent leads as to who is responsible for the theft.

Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "Listen, mate, "life" has surface noise."

Speaking of, and I realize this is probably a dumb question, but whatever happened to Annik Honore?KokaKola wrote:I have to agree, I think his family was smart for not putting up a headstone, too ---- his 'memorial stone' is a giant boulder (rendering it un-stealable, perhaps) at Glasto. A real fan would've stolen his skull.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Re: Ian Curtis' head rendered stoneless
Every story or article I have ever read about him always says he died "shortly before the band were due to go on tour in the US". Why ??? its as if they are saying he didnt do much but he nearly did, his band was ok but they were nearly really big, they made some money but they nearly made a lot more !! Why not say he died shortly before he was due a haircut or before they made their next album.

Re: Ian Curtis' head rendered stoneless
I don't think it's Americo-centric to state that. The next stage of the band's career was to break into a new and sizable market. And on their schedule, that was going to happen before making their next album or single or any other tour. Plenty of those write-ups mention that he died before the release of their second album, too.101Walterton wrote:Every story or article I have ever read about him always says he died "shortly before the band were due to go on tour in the US". Don't worry about 101. He's just on an anti-American rampage because of my refusal to become an Anglophile and surrender control of my vocabulary to the British Crown.Dr. Medulla wrote:I don't think it's Americo-centric to state that.
