Second rip:

It'd be nice if you guys could vote on which is the better rip. I'm at work so I can't really compare the two.

I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Incidentally, I found out about Exuma while searching for wanga bags and came across this image:

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: Exuma
I'm looking for a higher quality rip of the second album, but no luck as yet.

Re: Exuma
That's actually lower (192) than the rip of Exuma II I posted above (256). I'm hoping to find 320... I may just buy the (import?) CDs this weekend--amazon lists them new (at outrageous prices) but there are a couple used. I really doubt any of the money goes towards the original musicians. Exuma himself of course is dead.Flex wrote:I haven't had a chance to check these out yet, but: http://avaxhome.ws/music/ethnic_world/Exuma.htmleumaas wrote:I'm looking for a higher quality rip of the second album, but no luck as yet.

Re: Exuma
Hey gang, so funny story. I was ordering the first two Exuma cds so we could have cd rips of 'em and I noticed the store I work at had a couple copies of his Rude Boy album in stock - sort of surprising. So, I asked the boss why we had 'em and he told me that back in the late 80s the artist in question - he had thought Exuma was some local Denver musician - was going from store to store to sell his cd directly to record stores. So, the store I work at ended up with a couple copies and they sat on the shelves until today when I picked one up (long out of print, naturally) for myself. Kind of cool.
Anyways, here are uploads of Exuma, Exuma II and Rude Boy encoded to "extreme vbr" via dbpoweramp. The Repertoire Records re-releases of I & II sound great, just a bang up job on some pretty obscure music. I've gotten a few other releases on this label, and they're quickly becoming one of my favorite reissue labels (along with Sundazed).

Re: Exuma
I guess we now know what the "Denver Sound" is.
I'm downloading Rude Boy as we speak.
