To clarify, the song title doesn't contain the conjunction but it is the first word sung so Metallica is out (first word is "Halls")

Telly Savalas is 70s, isn't it?

I'll admit my grammar is rusty, but what about Like A Prayer?
First line is 'Life is a mystery" - not ashamed to know this.

Yes, a single.

Edit - just looked it up. The single is also the first song on the album of the same name. So, the answer is both single and album :)

And another edit - there may be more than one I guess. But I'm thinking of one specific song.
Okay. My first thought was Metallica's And Justice For All.

Preposition, not a conjunction.

I'm unclear now. Is it the song title or the lyrics that we should be searching for?

Probably both clue and further clarification time:

The first word sung in the song is "And"

The word "and" doesn't appear in the title but the title does appear in the first line (preceded by "And ....... ")

The song was also the name of the album and it was also the first song on the album.

I'll post the answer by 3pm ET because I think you'll all hate this question if it goes on much longer.

The execrable True by Spandau Ballet begins with the line "So true, funny how it seems..." but i don't think the so qualifies as a subjunctive in that particular instance.

OK - so I must have been listening to a weird remix on my 80s mix radio because when I went to find the song on YouTube, it still starts with "And..." but doesn't have the title in the first line.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The version I heard started with: And now it's solid, solid as a rock

So feel free to ignore any further trivia questions from me :(

Either way, I thought it was unusual for a song to start with 'and... '

Not too many number ones but loads of songs start with "And" as the first word.

I guessed it would be more than 1 but I was unable to think of any others so added some framework around it. My framework ended up being wrong though so I take full responsibility for this sham of a question.

The betrayal I'm feeling over this question makes me doubt whether I'll ever be able to love again.

Quite a few songs starting with AND mentioned in this thread:

I was really surprised how many there were.
