Easy for me Carly Simon I love that song, probably because it was the first film I took a girl to on a date
Closely followed by the Monkees but after that nothing for me.

Miss You is an absolute monster of a track (in my opinion). Wyman's bass riff alone is worth a vote.

I think anyone who votes for Robbie Williams should get an automatic 1-week ban.

I remember they tried to push him in the US once. That song Millennium. Just listened for the first time in like 20 years. The verses are like barely four lines and then that lame chorus forever and ever.WestwayKid wrote: ↑01 Apr 2020, 4:33pmI think anyone who votes for Robbie Williams should get an automatic 1-week ban.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yeah, the mid-to-late 90's they tried to make him a thing. What an awful time. He had that sort of hit with a cover of World Party's "She's the One". He apparently likes to claim that he wrote that song, however. He just represents everything that was terrible about that time period.matedog wrote: ↑01 Apr 2020, 4:43pmI remember they tried to push him in the US once. That song Millennium. When introducing the song in live performances, Williams often claims it is one of the best songs he's ever written, despite not actually having written the song. This culminated in a telephone outburst from the song's actual writer, Wallinger, to Chambers, stating "Your fucking friend Robbie Williams. Tell him from me that he's a cunt". Williams has never publicly acknowledged that "She's the One" is a cover of a World Party track although 20 years later, in a 2019 commercial for his album The Christmas Present , Williams states that he wrote the song for Amazon Alexa. The device subsequently states that Williams did not write She's the One, to which Robbie admits "no, I didn't".
Karl Wallinger should rerecord the song using the same backing track and call it "He's a Cunt".
World Party are great.

Nobody Does It Better - Carly Simon - 8/10 - One of my favourite Bond themes
Telephone Line - Electric Light Orchestra - 6/10 - They've done better
All I Have To Do Is Dream - The Everly Brothers - 7/10 - Good oldie
All Star - Smash Mouth - 5/10 - Codswallop really
Miss You - The Rolling Stones - 6/10 - A decent latter day Stones song but that doesn't mean it's great
Let Me Entertain You - Robbie Williams - 0/10 - Despicable man
Daydream Believer - The Monkees - 9/10 - Brilliant tune
Thunderstruck - AC/DC - 7/10 - Decent but not on par with their earlier stuff
Telstar - The Tornados - 9/10 - Love this one, just pipped by the Monkees for me
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley - 3/10 - I hate this type of music

I'm pretty much down with this. I would swap your 1 & 2 because The Monkees tune is overplayed and they have better tracks. Not to say I don't like it any way. The Stones track is an 8 for me. The rest I feel the same as your list.Heston wrote: ↑01 Apr 2020, 6:28pmNobody Does It Better - Carly Simon - 8/10 - One of my favourite Bond themes
