Yeah and for me, I'd be fairly sure Go For It was first slf album i encountered so i think that influences my preference a little bit. Inflammable is second and NH third but we're talking about minute differences here.Marky Dread wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 5:39amWell yeah me choosing GFI as my fave doesn't mean I love IM and NH any less. Low Down Low you really picking Go For It over IM and Nobody’s Heroes?
I get why people like it so much as musically the band had improved and expanded but personally I was so grateful for them when IM was released I can’t get past it.

Thats an interesting point. While there are obviously some monster debut albums, and Inflammable fits snugly into that bracket, of all the bands i love, i can think of very few cases where debut would be my favourite album. In fact, off top of my head none, but given time, I'm sure i could come up with a couple.101Walterton wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 5:32amI’m surprised.Marky Dread wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 5:27am"Go For It" is my fave SLF album and contains my fave tune of theirs "Piccadilly Circus".101Walterton wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 5:24amThat’s touch and go.Marky Dread wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 5:12amHey you good for nothing I do the puns 'round 'ere.Low Down Low wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 3:56am

Cranberries and Proclaimers are two bands that would fit the bill for me, but doubt either would have big followings on here.

Of those definitely The Specials. Dont really know enough about most of em. My DMR pecking order would be Too Rye Ay, DSMD, SFTYSR. True Dexys fans would scoff at me for that, but what can you do?101Walterton wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 4:09pmLet me helpLow Down Low wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 6:55amThats an interesting point. Surprised you rate Liberty that highly, but it is definitely up there with top 10 or 15 best albums I've heard in the last 10/15 years. Again, a bit like SLF, too rye ay was first dexys album i engaged with and it blew me away. And i never even really liked COE that much. Rowland is just outrageous on DSMD. Debut is great too, dealing with small margins again here.

My mates and I were huge Pistols and first wave punk fans but we were just too young to be part of it. The Pistols imploded and lot of the other bands we liked were moving on. Then along came SLF and suddenly we had our punk band that we felt part of. We bought IM on release we went to see them live. You can’t beat those feelings.Heston wrote: ↑31 Mar 2020, 6:16amI like melody.
