It sickens me that I'd even have to "rediscover" them, but Talking Heads. This is one of the finest songs to grace my ears:

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

Man, late 70s, early 80s, they were firing on all cylinders, musically and visually. Even a step backwards of sorts, Little Creatures, sounds pretty fucking good over twenty years later.Flex wrote:It sickens me that I'd even have to "rediscover" them, but Talking Heads. edit: Also, has anyone ever made that kind of nerd artist look seem more appealing than Byrne? The guy looked like the ultimate renaissance man.

Re: Who have you rediscovered lately?
Been playing the Saints lately.....I always forget about them and then every other year or so I pull them out and remember they could awsome...plenty of filler but when they were good..they were good.
Also, ...Shea, has made me break out the boots, which I haven't done in a looong time. I've been listening to "Clampdown"s like mad.
Also, to Flex-droid's and Dr. Hook's point, I never forget the Talking Heads, easily my second or third favorite band. I have thier entire catalouge on my mp3 player. I could listen to TNOTBITH for days. I practically go into a trance when I listen to "Born Under Punches" from that album.

I'm so punk, I don't even take my leather jacket off when it catches fire. Which it does frequently, because of how fucking punk I am.

No, you actually go into a trance. That's when the Talking Head come and steal the money out of your wallet.Bankrobber wrote:Also, to Flex-droid's and Dr. Hook's point, I never forget the Talking Heads, easily my second or third favorite band. I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I was trying to think of a joke that connected Byrne and the Roma, but he is pretty much much the most Anglo-American guy ever...musical taste aside.eumaas wrote:At least the Roma aren't taking the rap for it this time.Wolter wrote:Flex wrote:No, you actually go into a trance. Somewhere out there, an Italian equivalent of Combat 84 is bashing out a tune in honor of Berlusconi.Wolter wrote:The Gypsies stole your icon.eumaas wrote:Always trying to pin it on the gypsies...Bankrobber wrote:I was trying to think of a joke that connected Byrne and the Roma, but he is pretty much much the most Anglo-American guy ever...musical taste aside.eumaas wrote:At least the Roma aren't taking the rap for it this time.Wolter wrote:

Re: Who have you rediscovered lately?
I saw an interview with Byrne once where he mentioned that he spent a year of his childhood in Canada. When his family returned to the US, he was allowed to skip ahead a grade. That's what hanging out with beings of pure thought and energy will get you.Bankrobber wrote:I was trying to think of a joke that connected Byrne and the Roma, but he is pretty much much the most Anglo-American guy ever...musical taste aside.eumaas wrote:At least the Roma aren't taking the rap for it this time.Wolter wrote:Flex wrote:No, you actually go into a trance.
