Surprised at the trouncing AMC is receiving. Thought it would be a lot closer. I could well have voted for AMC on another day.

I'm not surprised is often the case with The Jam, it is their LC.
You often find people that got into The Jam in the early days go for AMC and fans who got into them later go for SS or SA.

I was into them from "In the City" but I still love "Sound Affects" best.101Walterton wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 9:15pmI'm not surprised is often the case with The Jam, it is their LC.

Listening to SA I think Set The House Ablaze would have sounded better on SS. Couldn’t have been a left over as Weller ran out of songs for SS hence Heatwave but it is cut from the same cloth.BitterTom wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 11:08amFantastic song, the riff is perfect. The 7 dwarf style whistling just ruins it for me though.WestwayKid wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 10:58amI want to change my vote to Sound Affects after some reflection. I originally went SS - but SA has some really great songs and it's probably a bit underrated as it followed SS. The live set included in Fire & Skill from just before SA was released is a monster, too. Live - the songs sounded really incredible. Set the House Ablaze is particular highlight.

I don't agree mate. That guitar sound on StHA is not like that of SS. Weller never ventured outside his comfort zone very often. Sounds Affects is the only time he didn't take the obvious Mod/Soul inspired route. Weller himself has admitted he was inspired by Wire/Gang of Four and even Joy Division for Sound Affects and while it sounds nothing like those bands you can hear it in the guitar sound.101Walterton wrote: ↑27 Apr 2019, 6:50pmListening to SA I think Set The House Ablaze would have sounded better on SS. I get it for the album as a whole but not that song. To me it is Eton Rifles part 2.Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Apr 2019, 7:06pmI don't agree mate. That guitar sound on StHA is not like that of SS. If someone else had released ER we’d be accusing Weller of another lift.

I don't hear that connection at all. If any of the tracks on Setting Sons was close I would say Private Hell not Eton Rifles.101Walterton wrote: ↑27 Apr 2019, 7:15pmI get it for the album as a whole but not that song. It was kinda sad that May had no Fridays in it.

This is the future socialists want.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Dammit, you're right. No way you can thank god for Friday if the atheist socialists have eliminated it. Probably replace it with Obamaday.

I leave that to experts like Heston and Pigfucker Cameron.
