There is an elephant in the room difference between a Queen biopic and a Sex Pistols biopic. Whilst personally I would rather watch a Pistols biopic millions of worldwide record sales and sold out stadium tours may suggest a Queen biopic more commercially viable.

I agree, tho if the Elton John film also does well, the producers' hope will be that they can piggyback a possible trend. Otherwise this'll have the same audience as Sid & Nancy.

I am the only person I know who hasn’t seen BR and at some point I will watch it (probably a long haul flight when I have run out of other options) but I am probably the only person I know (in NZ) who would watch a Pistols film.

Do you think the Queen, Elton John and Pistols docs will have a shared cinematic universe?

No but this discussion is based on the article which states:

“The success of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has acted as encouragement for a filmmaker whose project is set to feature the Sex Pistols”

Making the point the success of the Queen biopic is on the basis of mass worldwide fan base.

The credits cut scene for Elton John will feature a young Steve Jones breaking in to steal a piano.

Yeah, but when the Pistols reunited with Sid to headline Live Aid gives me goosebumps.

Something smelled off about that performance. A real stinker of a show.

Pistols biopic? https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sex-pistols-biopic/

My gut reaction is that it'd be something that would emphasize the sensational and lurid, which would, I think, make most of us wince.
Plus no one can top Andrew Schofield's Rotten in Sid and Nancy.
"Top." :hmm:
oh, here was my facebook post, some of you may have seen it already:

Here’s my casting choices for the new SEX PISTOLS movie: The Game of Thrones midget as Johnny, Idris Elba as Sid, the One Directions as Steve, Paul and Glen (with a maximum of one line of dialog each) and Helen Mirren as Malcolm. I can’t wait for “Should I Stay or Should I Go” to become a hit again!
Who plays Bill Grundy?
Ricky Gervais!

Not sure whether to post here or the Specials thread.
This is news to me but in March 1978 Jerry Dammers wanted to replace Terry Hall with John Lydon???
I am sure there were plenty of bands that would have liked to have had Lydon at that time but I don’t know if Dammers actively tried to do any recruiting??
Marky can you shed some light on it???
