It's been a while but my recollection was that it was like a joke that this guy was a total poser.

That's been ongoing for a long time. There's no real love lost over the money side. All the reformations have only ever been about money. The tour wasn't called the Filthy Lucre tour for nothing.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 5:41amRock n roll, baby: https://torontosun.com/entertainment/mu ... -royalties
I'm sure these arguments go back years and start with the release of dodgy bootlegs and some members getting a fee and others not.
The famous Spunk boot that both McLaren and Goodman denied having anything to with. Was a bone of contention. But McLaren held the master tapes at his Glitterbest office. Members of Virgin staff were known to have bought boxes and boxes of the boot so they didn't miss out a nice little earner.
The boot was also pressed up by Lyntone who made flexi discs and other promo records. They wouldn't touch a boot and risk their license. So they were clearly duped into pressing the album. Plus the original copy had blank labels and a blank sleeve. Later pressings were funny that some one had the idea to actually call the label "Blank Records". I've also been long convinced that in the 80s the albums that were put out by Jock McDonald on the MBC/Konexion label were with the semi blessing of John. As John was very friendly with Jock due to his connection with the 4B2's whose singer was John's brother Jimmy.
When Goodman started his shenanigans and had stuff put out on semi legit releases it was to counteract the McDonald releases. Goodman has said that he made sure the ex Pistols he was in touch with got some royalties so I would assume that to be Glen and possibly Paul.
The irony of all this for me is that Matlock and Lydon are now on the same team.
What a mess!.

With no touring income available, I expect to see more squabbling like this from other bands very shortly. The shitty relationship between the Pistols mean that they would be the first to get into this.

Well Jones has his radio show. Cook and Matlock both play live regularly pre pandemic and have released albums. John has PiL and all his book stuff he does. None of them are particularly poor.Silent Majority wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 8:26amWith no touring income available, I expect to see more squabbling like this from other bands very shortly. Sex Pistols residuals must make them money. But yeah the whole squabbling thing is sad.

Not compared to your or me, but you get used to the money coming in - Cook, Lydon, and Matlock will have been denied that stream since this time last year, hence the biting at eachother.Marky Dread wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 9:33amWell Jones has his radio show. John Lydon : $15 Million
Steve Jones : $8 Million
Paul Cook : $8 Million
Glen Matlock : $3.5 million
None of these guys will be sleeping rough and begging for the price of a cup of tea any day soon.
