My gut reaction is that it'd be something that would emphasize the sensational and lurid, which would, I think, make most of us wince.

Looks like it's about Malcolm and Vivienne, rather than the Pistols.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 4:38pmPistols biopic? https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sex-pistols-biopic/

Watched the tour of London a couple of years back. Found Paul and Steve quite interesting and enjoyable. Lydon seemed to find anything and everything to moan at while simply looking like the sad bastard everyone tries to avoid at the local.

Right, but I meant how punk/the Pistols would be handled. I know I'm being ridiculously quick to be negative, but I'm deeply skeptical of how a commercial film would handle that story, that it'd go the easy route.Kory wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 5:50pmLooks like it's about Malcolm and Vivienne, rather than the Pistols.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 4:38pmPistols biopic? https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sex-pistols-biopic/

The better film would be Malcolm's life leading up to the point he manages the Sex Pistols. The rest has been told ad infinitum.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 6:06pmRight, but I meant how punk/the Pistols would be handled. Re: Sex Pistols
It would have little commercial zing, but, yeah, I'd be up for that. It'd be pretty much impossible to frame that story as everything he does leading to punk, but whatever.Marky Dread wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 6:35pmThe better film would be Malcolm's life leading up to the point he manages the Sex Pistols. I watched the Vivienne Westwood film recently that was interesting.
Malcolm did not come out of it very well at all.

Ironic, that. Whatever his insights and accomplishments, they seem coincidental to his true nature.Marky Dread wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 8:01pmHe simply wasn't very nice. He was worse than that he was bitter, vindictive and jealous. He tried (and for a while succeeded) to sabotage Vivienne's career out of pure spite.Marky Dread wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 8:01pmHe simply wasn't very nice. Not very nice then. You should read ''The Wicked Ways of Malcolm McLaren''.101Walterton wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 10:02pmHe was worse than that he was bitter, vindictive and jealous. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
