Marky is the track list in any date order etc..Never heard My Mum's Roses before do you know when that was recorded?
Great song by the way, very Ian Dury influenced.

Re: It's Madness!
None of the songs had any info attached to them other than what they are rehearsal/demo etc. After a lot of research and listening back to the albums these are my best guess work for the running order. I followed the same track sequence as the remastered cds. I've no idea if the rehearsals are from the date guessed at by me. "My Mum's Roses" just sounds like an Absolutely outtake to my ears but I'm only guessing again. I think it's better to have them in the order I've chosen than none at all. Obviously the promo of DQMoT was released in a very ltd run I think of 500 or something so that's easy to date and it was included in the CD singles box. The flexi disc of Release Me also had an official release but just listen to how much cleaner this version is over the crackly sounding official one.101Walterton wrote: ↑05 Oct 2018, 12:10amMarky is the track list in any date order etc..Never heard My Mum's Roses before do you know when that was recorded?

Other info like the early version of Chemist Facade (House of Fun) is documented in books so that was obviously easy to place. The three tracks Deceives the Eye/The Young and the Old/Don't Quote Me on That are listed as demos however after some research I found out that the band did a session for Mike Reid that included those three tracks plus a version of My Girl which has never surfaced on line which leads me to believe it's possible they may well be from that session.
It was a lot of work and research but it's been worth it. I think the two volumes are brilliant there is also a third volume that has a lot of later tracks and some Suggs solo stuff that I've got lined up and a final fourth volume that has live stuff on.
All will be posted here in due course.

Re: It's Madness!
Thanks as always Marky.
I’m surprised My Mum’s Roses never surfaced officially. The reason I asked about dates was because it does sound like an Absolutely outtake but I also thought Wonderful due to Chas’ heavy influence on that album and the work they were doing with Dury at the time, Drip Fed Fred etc..
Great track anyway.

Re: It's Madness!
I think it's from the Absolutely sessions because of it's vibrancy and silly lyrics. "Strollsies bowlsies" is a silly way of saying strolling, bowling down the street. However I think it's a great tale of nicking his Mum's roses to give to his girlfriend.101Walterton wrote: ↑05 Oct 2018, 4:01pmThanks as always Marky.

Hello,
Thanks again, Marky! Interesting to hear this stuff. I'm not a huge Madness fan - not sure why not as they're a really good band - so it's interesting to hear sketches of stuff.
