AT 6.07 pm, in full-on dusk, we have 0 trick-or-treaters. Jesus fucking Christ, this neighbourhood. Some years, zilcho; other years, several dozen. Luckily, we buy small bags of popcorn so that the leftovers don't turn us into Hutts.

I just discovered that candy cigarettes are still sold as real Halloween candy!!! They're called "candy sticks" now, but they're just as chalky and totes sophisticated as before. I honestly thought the Surgeon General banned those things in 1989 or something.

Saw the Charlie Brown halloween thing last night because the wife doesn't want to watch horror movies anymore. I had never seen the whole thing before and it was...not very good. The animation and voice performances are all charming, but basically Linus waits for the great pumpkin and gets shit for it and then nothing happens so I guess it was right for people to give him shit. And there was that long winded WWI Snoopy montage that went on forever. Sticking to animated Sleepy Hollow next year.

Ive always appreciated Dark Peanuts, and there is no peanuts special nore nihilistic than Great Pumpkin. The children are right to lambast Linus, who stubbornly learns nothing at the end, perpetuating ignorance and suffering.
