It is, until you think about, you know, all of Zodiac's victims.

Well, by that token, the entire gag about him being the Zodiac Killer is improper. It's black humour to be sure, but it's a vehicle to emphasize what a monster he is. That he jujitsu'd it is worth acknowledging. Along with him being thrown down the deepest hole in Texas.
True. I have really been humorless lately.
My humorless take: an evil monster like Cruz embracing this joke is a cynical, jaded tactic that washes away his palpable vileness and therefore not funny at all.
Yup, it is a humourless take. Of course it's a cynical and jaded tactic, but I'm capable of separating matters. Nixon going on Laugh In in '68 and delivering "Sock it to me line" was also cynical, trying to seem less of a ghoul to the hip kids, but it's still funny. *shrug*

Thankfully nothing came of Nixon’s run and he disappeared forever.

Happy Halloween Banky!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said this on the Tweetserz, but I love SPOOKtober so much (gorging on horror movie, primarily) I'm thinking of carrying on into BOOvember, at least until the Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday superstructure fully takes hold.

I picked up my son from a Halloween party last night and had Christmas music playing in the car.

Side note: Not caring much for the Shatner xmas album.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN

Here's a question for the IMCT braintrust:

what are some songs that are spooky sounding, like they'd fit well on a halloween mix, but aren't specifically "Halloween" or "Horror" songs?

Blondie's Atomic and Rip Her to Shreds both came on the radio yesterday and I thought they fit the bill. Destri's work on both those songs give them a real nice eery feel, and Rip Her to Shreds has some great Halloween-y lyrics to boot.

What other unexpected songs do folks slot in next to their coffin box selections and mad monster party hits?

The Witch Trials ep. Maybe not what you're after, but that disc is creepy.

Hurdy Gurdy Man has an unsettling sound/vibe to it.

Speaking of Halloween songs, I want to point out that whenever I visit a Halloween/costume store in October...they always seem to be playing "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell.

This is vague, but there’s a musical moment on Neurosis’ Through Silver In Blood album—I can’t remeber where/what song—that I recall absolutely feeling terrifying when I listened to it on headphones years ago.

Something about the tone and the way it was played gave me the musical equivalent of a jump scare.

Not creepy sounding, but Bauhaus did a groovy instrumental that applied a sold-her-soul-to-the-devil Canadian cartoon.

I posted this a few weeks ago in a different thread, but, holy doodle, Bauhaus' video for "Mask" is exceptional old-time horror:

Such a great song, throw Season of the Witch in there too.

I would say "Mausoleum" by Manic Street Preachers but since it's about the Holocaust it feels a bit sacrosanct.
I'm so punk, I don't even take my leather jacket off when it catches fire. Which it does frequently, because of how fucking punk I am.
