The Who - "Who's For Tennis?"

Hello I'm new here so thought I'd link this with you.



A very interesting take on the "lost" Who album from 1968.
More in keeping with a studio album follow up to "The Who Sell Out"
this version flows through the tracks and ads very nicely indeed.
Some other versions of this fabled album have more of a compilation
look about them and others use live tracks, which was most unlike
The Who and previous album releases. Although slightly longer
than the average album of this time, it seems to fly by seemlessly
when listening to it giving it quite a concept feel about it. The
ommision of future singles and b-sides gives the listener a chance
to further appreciate the other tracks more rather than waiting on
the next hit to come along next. Shows The Who continuing their
pop-art with their laddish humour while tilting into their rock path.
Maybe not as dynamic as it's predesessor, it would certainly have
been a credible follow-up. Have a few listens, it definately grows
on you.

That site has some good recreations, including a take on Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg, which is good, but behind Markey Dread's version. The Velvet Underground 'IV' is worth a listen.

It's a fascinating site. Guy does a pretty solid job building these "lost" albums.
