I really hate the Pretenders, but this is good live, too.WestwayKid wrote: ↑02 Nov 2018, 11:05amhttps://www.rollingstone.com/music/musi ... er-748605/
I can't get the YouTube link to work for some reason...but while Morrissey remains a real pain in the ass - I have to admit I really like this cover!
Same here although that version of This Charming Man is way too fast.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 8:50pmhttps://www.stereogum.com/2025697/johnn ... eld/video/
I'd see Marr twenty times over Morrissey.
I was thinking about picking it up...but now I definitely will as you've got me intrigued about the new studio tracks. I agree with your assessment of the album: it definitely losses steam by the second half.oliver wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 5:54amThis is probably only of interest to completists but the deluxe edition of Low in High School came out this week.
I found the first half of the original album to be really strong and the second half to be really weak. What I don't get is why the 3 new studio songs on the deluxe edition were originally left off. You drop the three weakest songs for these and it's a 8 or 9 out of 10 album instead of a 5 or 6
The cover art is so much nicer too
Yeah, I agree. The other clips I've seen the past couple years where he plays Smiths tumes have been fairly decent.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 11:38pmSame here although that version of This Charming Man is way too fast.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 8:50pmhttps://www.stereogum.com/2025697/johnn ... eld/video/

Nervous of what exactly? Playing a song he's played hundreds of times over.Kory wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 1:54pmHe was probably nervous.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 11:38pmSame here although that version of This Charming Man is way too fast.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 8:50pmhttps://www.stereogum.com/2025697/johnn ... eld/video/

Well then by your own logic he should have played it at a more appropriate speed, no?Marky Dread wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 2:29pmNervous of what exactly? I need to give it another spin. I'll report back later...Kory wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 1:55pmHuh, I like the second half. The deluxe edition is on Spotify if you want to check out the new originals. I'm loving Lover-To-BeKory wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 1:55pmHuh, I like the second half. Nothing to do with nerves. I would say he just rushes it through the excitement of engaging with the crowd. Either way though it's too fast.Kory wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 3:33pmWell then by your own logic he should have played it at a more appropriate speed, no?Marky Dread wrote: ↑11 Dec 2018, 2:29pmNervous of what exactly?
