I think you have to separate the artist from the music at times. Unless the artist starts to use his music to spread hatred etc then I have no problem enjoying it.WestwayKid wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 9:49amIt hasn't. Their music meant a lot to me for so long and I really have enjoyed a lot of Morrissey's solo work. To be honest, I liked Spent the Day in Bed when it came out. Just seems like there was a point where he could say dumb things and it wasn't exactly "funny" but there was a bite and a wit to it and then he lost that edge and just started coming across as being woefully behind the times. I've often felt he doesn't really believe a lot of the stuff he says - he just says it to be provocative because that worked for him for so many years - but he's lost the ability to be witty and he's now just boorish. I don't want to be an apologist because he's said some really dumb/awful things as of late. It's all really just kind of sad.Marky Dread wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 9:02amBut that's not stopped you enjoying The Smiths music tho' right?WestwayKid wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 6:30amI saw that the other day. His fall from grace has been somewhat fascinating...though not surprising. His lyrics and interviews have been littered with amazingly tone deaf comments for decades. I admit I was a huge Smiths fan as an awkward teen and I continued to be a fan until not that long ago...but as the quality of his music has declined and his stupid comments have increased...I really find him to have become massively distasteful.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 6:11am*gasp* Morrissey cancels tour … because people are mean.

Kind of a strange argument in that article. The author has guessed that it's because people have been mean. The official reason was a "logistical" problem which could mean anything from visa problems to lack of insurance to threats to lack of ticket sales to anything.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 6:11am*gasp* Morrissey cancels tour … because people are mean.

But most likely it was Borrissey’s fault.oliver wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 11:22pmKind of a strange argument in that article. The author has guessed that it's because people have been mean. You may very well be right but the article is just one big strawman fallacy.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 1:03amBut most likely it was Borrissey’s fault.oliver wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 11:22pmKind of a strange argument in that article. You have to get used to people reading between the lines. Morrissey gets what he deserves of course but it's just boring to me when I see people dedicating a whole blog page to his antics. The only one winning is Morrissey.oliver wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 9:06amYou may very well be right but the article is just one big strawman fallacy.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 1:03amBut most likely it was Borrissey’s fault.oliver wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 11:22pmKind of a strange argument in that article. Re: The All Smiths/Morrissey Thread
Some needs to put out a record called Morrissey Gets What He Deserves. I’ll design the album cover.Marky Dread wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 11:33am

Re: The All Smiths/Morrissey Thread
This is the closest I ever got to liking Morrissey...
Re: The All Smiths/Morrissey Thread
Usually with Morrissey there is no need to read between the lines. He's always been direct since the early days of The Smiths.Marky Dread wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 11:33amYou have to get used to people reading between the lines.
