That bit in The Jam’s “When You’re Young” where it goes;
“You’re fearless and brave, you can’t be stopped when you’re young...”
Dun, dun, dun, din, digidigidee, dun, dun, dun, dun,
“You used to fall in love with everyone..”
Dun, dun, dun, din, digidigidee, dun, dun, dun, dun!
Just sublime!

Me too - for me it's a "winter" album, so I'll be sure to give it a spin after the first of the year.Wolter wrote: ↑11 Nov 2017, 11:29amSameMarky Dread wrote: ↑11 Nov 2017, 10:41amHave not played that in an age but always liked it.coffeepotman wrote: ↑11 Nov 2017, 10:25amI don't know if this is everyone's cup of tea but listening to Daydream Nation from beginning to end, uninterrupted is quite sublime for me. Perhaps the sublimest moment, the two-bar intro to "William, It Was Really Nothing."

The Kinks...Where can I even begin? Sublime! Ha, at it's best. Waterloo, Victoria, Yes Sir No Sir, Dead End, Village Green, the moment when Dave rips into the solo of You Really got Me. I could go on and on. God save the Kinks

What can I say. The Kinks are my all time fave group with The Clash a very close second. The Panic Report third place obviously.Heston wrote: ↑28 Nov 2017, 11:52amI second all of this.coffeepotman wrote: ↑28 Nov 2017, 1:39amThe Kinks...Where can I even begin? Sublime! Ha, at it's best. Re: Sublime Moments.
Do they have some kind of supreme cultural top honor in the UK? Not just some honorary thing like a knighthood but sort of like a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in France. The Kinks deserve some thing like that. I love everything they have done, even the weird 70's concept albums and 80's stadium rock. They have the distinction of being one of the best concerts I have ever seen, Give the People tour and one of the worst, state of Confusion tour. Ray and Dave were fighting the whole gig when Dave finally said something like I should just smash you over the head with his guitar...show over
