Just got back from an interesting Marc Bolan Tribute show in NYC. Ellen Foley came up and sang a song, it wasn't exactly good, actually the whole show was like watching a slow motion train wreck for 2 and 1/2 hours before we left. And here's the kicker, there was a dynamite house band, with Clem Burke, drummer extraordinaire and Steve Conte, super rocker but the parade of singers and the MC was just awful. We had to leave before it was over.
It should have been a hell of a lot better, but like the Bowie tribute shows I've seen it was just painful.

She was introduced as singer, actor, songwriter, something about Meatloaf and former girlfriend of Mick Jones. It was so bad I don't even remember what song she sang

I saw Clem Burke in Los Angeles with a band called the Throwaways in early January. It was a collection of people from other bands (2 guys from Garth Brooks' band, if I recall correctly). Pretty fun straight ahead rock stuff. I guess he is of the status where he can show up wherever, find musicians he knows, and play - great for him!
