When I lived in NYC I walked by this accordion shop in midtown. I always said to myself, "One day you'll see Weird Al in there." After a couple of years I saw him playing accordion with a street band about a block away the night after he played som theater in New Rochelle.

I consistently get this stuck in my head when I'm in the shower for some reason:

Table salt (spoon hinge)
Octopus (Ukraine)
St. Petersburg (arms)
Ginger beer (cauliflower)
Pat Sajak (PSak)
Lamp post (self evident)
Florida Timeshare (ditto)
Heraclitus (EMI)
Developers (Developers Developers)

Thank you for that. I needed a spoonful of true punk tonight.

A friend saw him in the late 90s and said that he opened the show with that clip.

The owner of the office I work for went to Cal Poly at the same time as Weird Al. He said WA used to practice the accordian in the restrooms.

Bad Hair Day was a big deal when I was in 7th grade. I love how he keeps popping up every like six or seven years to become relevant for a little.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Same. There was a network of underground cassette traders who'd trade you a copy for a thing of gummies or sour keys.
