These 2 Albums are amazing, Fully recommened for any jazz lovers out there.

And this from Coltrane

Sanders has a great album called "Summun, Bukmun, Umyun" which is notable because it stays in that laid back, spiritual style without ever going into some of the more aggressive free stuff. Very nice for evening listening.
Will definitely hunt some more sanders stuff, Just recently discovered Pharoah Sanders after hearing 2 tracks that blew me away 'Astral Travelling' and ' The Creator has a Master Plan'
Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "Listen, mate, "life" has surface noise."

Here's a question (for Gene, most likely):

I'm a fan of Sinatra's classic Capitol albums, like In the Wee Small Hours and Songs for Swinging Lovers. Other crooners I mostly know through Greatest Hits comps. Any recommendations for good records from the like of Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, etc? Or anything else you'd recommend checking out given that I like those Sinatra records?

The Tony Bennett/Bill Evans albums would be right up your street.

Man, it's been a while since I dove into this stuff, but for Tony Bennett my favorite is When Lights Are Low. I Left My Heart in San Francisco is a classic, of course.

With Dean Martin I'd give Bing a try first just because it's worth hearing given how much Martin owes to him.

Any good Bing comps or albums? I just have his Christmas music.

I don't remember which I used to listen to offhand.

Sorry, swamped at school so I can't look into it just yet.

No problem, I can hunt around (obviously). Figured I'd just check in first.

Thanks both!

Thanks man. My computer isn't really hooked up too well these days as a music player (working to reintegrate into my newly rebuilt stereo system, but it's behind a few other stereo-related projects) so not listening to a lot of mp3s at the moment. I'll dig through discogs and see if I can come up with a copy on CD tho.

And yeah, Bobby Darin rules.

Here are two great sounding Benny Goodman tunes, thought I'd share:

Benny Goodman & His Orchestra - Changes (1937)

Benny Goodman & His Orchestra - Afraid to Dream (1937)

Same recording session. Recorded direct to disk. Amazing performances.

I've been diggin my Dean Martin's Greatest Hits! Vol. 1 vinyl that I picked up recently. Sounds better than any digital releases of his Reprise stuff that I've encountered. Particularly enamored of this tune at the moment:
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
